On Saturday, April 13th, a group of 15 LOSTU anglers headed over to Jackson County to do a little exploring on the North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail. We were joined by friends from the Cataloochee Chapter and began the day with a strategy session over coffee and donuts at the East Laporte River Access Area (located at the junction of the Tuckaseegee and the Caney Fork. )
Recent heavy rain and an unscheduled release of water from the East Fork Dam on the Tuck’ meant wild trout fishing was the order of the day. Sunny skies prevailed as we fanned out into the Caney and Tannassee drainages. Streams were up and fishing was tough but good effort yielded results and everybody had a story to tell by the time we redevouzed back at the park for a mid-afternoon feed. All in all, a great day of fishing, friends and fellowship.
Thank you to Carey Burda, Mark Lynch and Lauren Miko for all your help in making sure everyone was fully caffinated and well fed.
We’re brainstorming our next outing, likely for July some time. If you’ve got thoughts, suggestions or would like to be involved…your input and assistance are most welcome!
