When life gives you a lemon, make lemonade. Or to translate that into fly-fishing terms, when the hatchery truck doesn’t show-up due to an unannounced schedule change, go fishing instead. That’s exactly what a team of intrepid stocking volunteers did on 7 November on the North Mills. Good intentions were rewarded with an unexpected chance to wet a line and a good time was had by all. The November stocking is frequently one where the hatchery releases some of its, shall we say…more senior, spawning stock. This means a chance to encounter fish of proportions we don’t frequently see here in WNC.
All of our delayed harvest streams are now stocked for the winter so get your wool hat, warm socks and enjoy some quality fishing and solitude on our beautiful local waters!
