Many thanks to Jeff Curtis who brought his two beautiful hawks, Green Man and Trace, to last night’s chapter meeting to help us learn more about the ancient sport of falconry and about raptors here in WNC. Everyone present was in awe of these amazing and majestic creatures and the vital role they play in the balance of nature. The highlight of the evening had to be the chance to have them perch on your arm (and everyone wanted a chance to do it!) Like fly fishing, falconry provides a unique opportunity to get close to creatures that we might otherwise overlook. Last night was a wonderful reminder of why we should care.
