Mark and I made a day trip to a local stream south of town and were rewarded with a beautiful day and a few fish to boot. Most of what we caught were small rainbows but finally I hit on this nice brown. Although this one was definitely keeper size at about 14″ he went back in the stream for another day.
The fish mainly were interested in nymphs but occasionally we saw them taking dries or emergers off the surface and got some dry fly action. The easiest way to gauge their interest is to use a dry/dropper rig until a pattern sets in then go with what they want.
If you haven’t made it out yet its still not too late, and don’t forget the chapter outing on April 13. For more info on that trip see the article in the newsletter further down the page.
