kwdKarpen work day dec 2015 001

As a lead-in to the holidays, a group of hardy LOSTU volunteers braved the morning chill on 19 December, to do some much needed riparian repairs along Reems Creek near Weaverville.  The banks had been defoliated by what appeared to be an over-zealous application of weed-killer and were already eroding quickly due to recent rains.  Our team replanted the banks using “live-stakes” of Willow, Nine-bark, and Dogwood saplings, followed up by some winter grasses to hold things together until mother nature can do the rest.  Many thanks to Roger Parkin for spearheading the effort and to all who  pitched in!
